The Buyers Guide To The Best Smart Scales

With so many smart scales promising so much, it’s hard to find the right one for you. But to help you out, here are some of the features that I like to look out for.

Now, just as a forewarning the best smart scales offer a lot more features to it’s worth checking out what suits your needs, not other peoples:

BMI

Your BMI is calculated by comparing your height with your weight, and it's an excellent indicator of how healthy or unhealthy you are. The ideal BMI ranges from 18.5 to 24.9, anything higher or lower than that, you'll be classed as overweight or underweight.

Muscle Mass

This is an essential metric for anyone that's trying to gain muscle mass or increase their overall strength. It can be alarming when you've been working out all week, yet you've gained weight. This is simply because muscle weighs more than fat; a smart scale takes this into consideration.

Water Weight

Some people can retain more water than others, which means their weight will fluctuate depending on how hydrated they are. And that's why a smart scale that can work out how much water is in your body is essential. It will also let you know if you need to drink more water.

App

Having a smart scale that comes with an app can be hugely beneficial. It pushes all the data you need to your smartphone. From there, it will create graphs and charts to help you understand areas for improvement; it will also send you notifications.

Max Weight

All scales have a maximum weight, even smart ones; most scales will hit the 400 lbs mark others don't go much past 300 pounds. If you're on a life-changing weight loss journey, it's worth considering what the maximum weight the scales can hold.

Body Fat percentage

Our bodies are made up of fat and muscle, which can make losing weight/body fat very difficult. With an ordinary scale, you won't know if you've gained muscle mass or lowered your fat percentage. Smart scales help to combat this by letting you know your fat percentage.

Bone Mass

Some people really are just big-boned (no, it not an excuse), which is why some people are heavier than they look. And on the other hand, people with low bone density could be a risk of brittle bone diseases. Knowing your measurement will help you make changes to your diet.

Pregnancy Mode

It's hard to keep track of your weight/body fat when you pregnant; after all, another little person is living inside you. Some smart scales will consider this by showing you your actual weight; they can also help you keep track of how much your baby weighs

Connectivity

Smart scales with apps will need some way of connecting themselves; this is usually archived with Bluetooth or WiFi. Think about how you like to stay connected; for me, the best is WiFi; it means your phone doesn't have to be close to the scales.

Multi-User

If you have a big household of people trying to lose weight, a multi-user scale will be very beneficial. It stops data being overwritten when someone new steps on to the bathroom scale. Some scales will even recognize who's on the scale.

The Best Smart Scales

Now you know what to look for, it makes the next step that much easier. By putting everything you’ve learned above together, you can now make an informed decision for your next purchase. But to help you out a little further, here are some of the best smart scales:
